This section of the website holds an archive of articles which were published in the Tishrei Journal. The earliest version of the journal began in the month of Tishrei 1992, with the purpose of exploring the Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith. These articles represent the beginning of what is being fulfilled in The Tishrei Bible School. Many of these articles raise questions of continuing relevance. By browsing through the various sections, viewing titles of the articles and opening those which are of particular interest, can be a help to those who are asking questions relating to the origins of the Christian Faith and the continuing relationship with Messianic Jews.

  • 35. The Canon of Scripture

Neil Owen Foreword Clifford Denton This issue of the journal is linked with the previous one, which explored the role of Rabbinic Judaism in our study of the roots of the Christian Faith. Whatever value Rabbinic Judaism may have we must be careful not to undermine the Bible. There is great value in extra-biblical studies […]

  • 36. The Word of G-d

Arye Powlison “The Word of G-d is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. ” (Heb 4:12) There is a host of people in the Christian world who have focused on the Scriptures as though they were the source of their life. “In them you think you have eternal life.” (John 5:39). Eternal […]

  • 37. The Greek Middle Voice

Tom Hamilton The importance of the Greek Middle voice in our understanding of the New Testament writings has perhaps not yet been fully realised. This is because if languages change, and govern our ability to think and express thought, then our ability to both express certain linguistic aspects of New Testament Greek in up-to-date English, […]

Every language has its own idioms, many of which seem strange when translated literally out of their […]

  • 42. From Theatre to the Home

Karl D Coke Millions of Christians have left the Church since 1960. Why? Today’s Church behaves more like a “Greek theatre” than a living organism. Its members “go to” church when they should “be” the church. These spectators are wearied from fighting, wasting money and trying to fulfil a pastor’s “vision.” Most Christians just want […]

  • 43. The Melchizedekian Priesthood of Yeshua and the Priesthood of all Believers

Arnold G Fruchtenbaum There is recognition on the part of believers that the Messiah has three offices: Prophet, Priest and king. While many passages in the New Testament do develop both the prophetic office and the kingship of Yeshua, only one book elaborates in any way on the priesthood of The Messiah, and that is […]
